    Careless

In his defense, it wasn't really his fault. He hadn't meant to kiss her, but her lips were looking far too kissable. It hadn't helped that she had been shouting at him either, the sounds of her anger bouncing around the small steel cage they were currently stuck in. Typical that the one time he didn't want the elevators to stop, they had. But to make the most of a bad situation, he had pulled her roughly to him and stopped the tirade from her lips before it got any worse. He knew she was going to hit him afterwards, but he didn't seem to care less.

    Blame

In her defense, she had only been trying to further her career. It wasn't her fault that he had fallen in love with her. It wasn't her fault that he now probably hated her and everything she stood for. Sneaking out of the hotel room, sparing him once last glance before she shut the door, passing the night receptionist, the one with the knowing smile, she walked purposefully into the cool Paris night. It wasn't her fault that he had fallen in love with her. But it definitely was his fault that she had fallen twice as hard, twice as deep in love with him.

    Too long

In his defense, if you mix bourbon and the scent of her, tears will no doubt fall. She had been gone for a month. A month was too long when he counted every single second without her. Hell, a second was too long. He hadn't told anyone that he slept in a bed now, wrapped up in her scent, having stolen the bottle before burning her house to the ground. He slept in a bed because the basement held too many painful memories, visions of her gliding gracefully down the stairs in that green dress. Pressing the heels of his hands into his eyes did nothing to stop a few errant tears that fell into the sawdust on the floor.

    Together

In their defense, they had both wanted to keep quite. Only just finding each other again, exploring bodies and likes and dislikes all over again was something private. But when Abby had found out she had nearly cried because he hadn't told her. But secret midnight whispers and gasps, secret rendezvous' in darkened hallways, lingering looks and almost too brief touches weren't things they wanted to advertise.

When the rest of the team found out, I didn't tell them's escaping Abby's lips, they smile and laugh. It doesn't matter. Being together is all that counts, because who knows how long they have left.
